Orange business solutions presented at CERF 2005
For Orange Romania, the presence at CERF 2005 represented the opportunity
to present new services and technologies for business environment.
Orange Romania and RIM (Research in Motion) presented BlackBerry® solution, an extension of the office e-mail account to a mobile device - BlackBerry 7290 handheld. Visitors could experience at the Orange stand the benefits of mobile e-mail communication. On 20 April, Orange and RIM signed an agreement to introduce BlackBerry service on the Romanian market, first and the best known e-mail push solution worldwide. Today the solution is tested internally, and the service will be commercially launched to business clients in the forthcoming months.
Another new service presented at CERF 2005 is Fleet Watch. This service enables the tracking of mobile phones fleet members through an invisible SMS. The information about their location is then placed on a map and sent to the fleet manager on web or wap. The Area Guide service also uses location-based technology and allows the user to request on wap information about the nearest points of interest: restaurants, ATMs, etc. These services will be available to Orange customers later this year.
3G technology was also present, catching the attention with three services complementary to the video call. Benefiting by Alcatel support, Orange drew the attention of potential 3G users with the video conference, video mail and video kiosk services. At this moment, video conferencing allows three participants to enter simultaneously in a video call, the caller viewing on the phone screen his own image and the images of the other two callers, as well. The video mail service enables the user to record and send video calls when the person called has the phone switched off. Thus, a video mail received can be viewed later on by the recipient. The third service prepared for the 3G launch is the video kiosk, and it represents the most enjoyable video portal browsing option, allowing the interactive selection of desired information that combines sound with image in a TV show manner.
