Beginning in June 2007, Orange customers in 10 cities can access the Internet from their laptops or PCs at 3G+ speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps, using HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access). In addition, by the end of 2007, 3G+ coverage will be extended to 41 cities and the speed of mobile data transfers will increase to 7.2 Mbps.

The Mobile Internet Access service lets you connect to the Internet using your mobile, data card or USB modem and a computer (laptop or PC). Connection speed will vary according to the type of mobile or device you’re using to connect up to 3.6 or 1.8 Mbps for 3G+ compatible devices up to 384 kbps if you’re using a 3G device and up to 220 kbps if you’re connecting using an EDGEcompatible terminal.

The Mobile Email service enables you to communicate via email from your mobile and to organise your time efficiently:

• you receive a text message alert to let you know about your new email messages, which you can read as text messages, on wap in Orange World or on the web at www.orange.ro
• you have access to Mail Manager, the application which enables you to view email messages received on up to 5 other POP3 email accounts and reply to them via wap, in Orange World
• you can choose to receive a summary of activity for your account via text messages
• the Organiser option gives you access to Agenda and Calendar, two services which will enable you to manage your contacts, events and tasks. In addition, all this data can be synchronised with your SyncML compatible mobile.

video calls

The Video Calling service lets you see your loved ones as if they were right next to you and they can see you too. To use the service, both you and the person you’re talking to must have 3G compatible mobiles with video calling and you must be located in the 3G coverage area.

To make a video call, all you have to do is dial the number or select it from your phonebook and then choose the video calling option. When you receive a video call, you can decide whether or not to be seen by the caller.

Orange is the first operator in Romania to offer its customers national coverage for the broadband mobile data network.

You can use the Internet and email on your computer at 3G+ speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps in Bucharest and in the following cities: Bra[ov, Cluj-Napoca, Constan]a, Craiova, Gala]i, Ia[i, Oradea, Ploie[ti and Timi[oara.

In cities with 3G coverage - Arad, Bacãu, Baia-Mare, Brãila, Buzãu, Pitesti, Râmnicu-Vâlcea, Satu-Mare, Sibiu, Târgu Mures - you get transfer speeds of up to 384 kbps. Anywhere else in the country, outside of 3G/3G+ coverage, you can use mobile Internet and email services at EDGE speeds of up to 220 kbps.

The transition from the 3G+/3G network to EDGE takes place without affecting the operation of data services. As a result, on leaving the 3G+/3G coverage area, your connection will not be interrupted and will continue to operate via the EDGE network.
