3G+ covers 35 cities

This autumn, our 3G+ service area has been extended to cover 25 new cities: Alba-Iulia, Arad, Bacãu, Baia-Mare, Bistrita, Botosani, Braila, Buzau, Calarasi, Deva, Focsani, Miercurea Ciuc, Pitesti, Piatra-Neamt, Ramnicu-Valcea, Satu-Mare, Sfantu Gheorghe, Sibiu, Solobozia, Suceava, Targu-Jiu, Targu-Mures, Tulcea, Turnu Severin, Zalau, in addition to the cities where Orange launched 3G+ services in June: Brasov, Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Constanta, Craiova, Galati, Iasi, Oradea, Ploiesti and Timisoara. This means Orange now offers its customers the widest 3G+ coverage nationally for Internet, intranet and email access from computers at speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps.

This autumn Orange will extend its 3G+ service area to include all 41 county towns, and by the end of the year our data transfer speed will rise to 7.2 Mbps. What’s more, anywhere in the country outside the 3G+/3G service area you’ll be able to access the Internet and email at EDGE speeds of up to 220 kbps.

You can switch from the 3G+/3G network to the EDGE network without this affecting the functioning of your data services. If you’re on the move and go outside the 3G+/3G service area, your session will continue via EDGE.

Whether you’re at the office, in a meeting or on the move, you’ll be able to access the Internet, intranet and your email at any time. For your company’s existing data service plans you’ll get 3G+ speeds for the same rates.

Internet

Mobile Internet Access lets you connect to the Internet using your mobile, data card or USB modem and a computer (laptop or PC). Connection speeds will depend on the compatibility of your mobile or other terminal used: up to 3.6 or 1.8 Mbps for terminals compatible with 3G+ technology, up to 384 kbps for 3G terminals and up to 220 kbps if you connect using an EDGE-compatible terminal.

mobile email

Using Mobile Email you can communicate by email from your laptop or PC, connected by data card or USB modem, or directly from your mobile. Also ,you are able to organise your time effectively so that:

1. you’ll be notified of incoming emails by text messages to your mobile and can read your emails as text messages, via wap on Orange World or on the web at www.orange.ro
2. you’ll get access to Mail Manager, where you can view and reply to emails received in up to five other POP3 email accounts, via wap on Orange World
3. you can choose to receive a summary of your account activity by text
4. the Organizer option gives you access to your contacts list and calendar which you can use to manage your contacts, events and tasks. You can also synchronise all these with your mobile if it’s compatible with SyncML.

video calls

Video Calling lets you and your loved ones see each other as if you were right up close. To use this service, both you and the person you’re talking to will need to have 3G-compatible mobiles with video calling and be inside the 3G+/3G service area.
To make a video call, just key in the phone number or select it from your contacts list and then select the video call option. When you receive a video call you can choose whether you want the other person to see you.
