technical description
The account capacity is 10 MB and can be increased later on. The maximum size of an incoming e-mail can be up to 10 MB.
The account(s) can be accessed as follows:
- through a web interface at www.orange.ro, online services section or, in case of domain owned, at the address: mail.your_domain.ro.
- through POP3 or IMAP4 connection with the help of an e-mail client like Outlook Express
- through POP3 or IMAP4 connection through the use of a mobile phone (data GSM or 3G/EDGE/GPRS) also with the help of an e-mail client (e.g. Outlook Express)
- directly on the mobile phone (if the phone allows such connections)
The domain used in e-mail address can be:
- one offered by Orange thus the e-mail address will be as follows: name@orangenet.ro for private customers or name@company.ornet.ro for business customers.
- one owned by the client thus the e-mail address will be name@your_domain.ro
e-mail account settings
The settings are required for a POP3 or IMAP4 connection for receiving e-mails, respectively a SMTP connection for sending e-mails in an e-mail client (like Outlook Express).
The e-mail client configuration can be made using the following information (for Outlook Express: Tools -> Accounts -> Mail -> Add Mail menu):
- e-mail address: name@ornet.ro or mail@domain.ro
- incoming mail server (POP3 or IMAP4) : 62.217.193.2 or mail.ornet.ro (mail.your_domain.ro in case of an owned domain) (if you want to see the directory structure of your e-mail account on the server then you should choose IMAP4 protocol)
- outgoing mail server (SMTP): 62.217.193.2 or mail.ornet.ro (mail.your_domain.ro in case of an owned domain)
- account name: e-mail address
- password: orange (provisioned at activation, can be changed later on)
usage
The service allows sending and receiving of e-mails using a web interface, a mobile phone or a dedicated application.
charging principles
The 10MB storage space e-mail is included in the subscription acquired. In case that you want to buy a supplementary
e-mail account or to increase the storage space this is a subject of
a monthly fee.
Sending and receiving e-mails does not involve any fees the use of the
service being free of charge.
