Orange Romania

Roaming

for you

When you’re travelling, don't forget to take your Orange mobile with you, along with your passport.
The Roaming service enables you to communicate using your own number when you’re travelling outside Romania's borders, in the countries where Orange has set up PrePay roaming agreements.

Currently, Orange Romania has signed PrePay roaming agreements with over 200 operators in over 100 countries.

automatic setup

As of 30 March 2009 our Roaming service was set up automatically for all Orange PrePay users. This means you can use this service as soon as your card is set up.

You can check at any time whether you are set up to use the Roaming service and you can have it set up or deactivated by making a free call to 200 or *100#, choosing Select followed by Roaming. If you have deactivated the Roaming service, you can only set it up again free of charge from Romania.

Attention!
If the Roaming service has been set up and you're in a national border area, we recommend that you select the Orange network manually or turn off the Roaming service in order to avoid registration with a neighbouring country's network due to signal fluctuations.

how it works

You can only use the Roaming service within the coverage area of the partner network in the country you’re visiting.

calls and text messages

Countries are divided into two categories according to the type of roaming agreement:

  • countries where you can make or receive calls and send or receive text messages
  • countries where you can receive calls and send or receive text messages, but not make calls

Find out in which countries you can use the Roaming service for calls and text messages.

To make a call or send a text message to:

  • a phone number within the country you’re visiting, enter the phone number in national format
  • a phone number in Romania or any country other than the one you’re visiting, dial the number in international format

To receive calls or text messages:

  • from Romania, the person calling you should dial your Orange mobile number in national format
  • from abroad (including from the country you’re visiting), the person calling you should dial your Orange mobile number in international format

data services

If you have set up the WAP Access, Mobile Internet Access or Multimedia Messages services, you can also use them abroad. The WAP Access and Mobile Internet Access services can be used via GPRS Roaming or CSD, though Multimedia Messages can only be used via GPRS Roaming.

  • data transfer via GPRS Roaming

GPRS Roaming gives you higher speeds for data transmission. You can use the WAP Access, Mobile Internet Access or Multimedia Messages services on all networks with which Orange has entered into GPRS Roaming agreements.
The operation of the GPRS Roaming service is dependent on the technical capabilities of the network on which you register and the mobile you’re using. No additional settings other than those you normally have in Romania are necessary to use the GPRS Roaming service.
You are charged according to the volume of information you transfer. Find out the charges for GPRS Roaming and the countries in which this service is available here [link to…]
You can find out more about GPRS data transfer by accessing the special webpages for the WAP Access, Mobile Internet Access and Multimedia Messages services.

  • Data transfer via CSD

Where the GPRS Roaming service is not available, you can use data services via CSD, which is available on all networks from which you can make voice calls. Access is dial-up, and you will be charged according to the length of time for which you are connected.
The charges for CSD data transfer are the same as those for voice calls made to numbers within Romania. Find out which networks are available and the charges applicable to each.
The Multimedia Messages service does not operate via CSD.
You can find out more about CSD data transfer and the necessary settings by accessing the special webpages for the WAP Access and Mobile Internet Access services.
