technical information

In order to acces the start-up document for the BlackBerry Service click here.

The service uses push technology, where emails are forwarded automatically to your mobile without requiring the user to check their email by connecting to the server.

The BlackBerry from Orange for internet email lets you administer up to 10 email accounts directly from your BlackBerry device, so that your handheld effectively becomes an extension of your email account.

The email addresses you can integrate with the handheld are:

  • personal POP3 or IMAP4 email addresses (user@yahoo.com inclusively) .
  • existing POP3 or IMAP4 corporate email addresses, hosted by an Internet Service Provider (ISP) or on the company’s own server (including those using the Linux operating system: Sendmail, Postfix, Qmail etc.)
  • a BlackBerry address in the user@blackberry.orange.ro format. This email account provides 500 MB of storage space and automatically deletes your emails after 30 days. As a result, your account will never exceed storage capacity.

If you use messaging applications, you can download and install two of the most popular instant messaging clients: Yahoo Messenger and GoogleTalk, by accessing their addresses from your phone: www.blackberry.com/yahoodownload and www.blackberry.com/googletalk respectively.

In addition, the integrated internet browser lets you surf the internet in optimal conditions due to the generous size of the display and automatic adaptation of WWW content to the size and technical characteristics of the handheld device.

BlackBerry technology uses special email and internet browsing compression in order to optimise the the process. As a result, sending/receiving email and internet browsing is much faster.

The service is available on BlackBerry mobiles (8800, 8320, 8100 Pearl, 8120 Pearl) and on BlackBerry-compatible mobiles (such as the Nokia E50, Nokia E51, Nokia E65, Nokia E90, Sony Ericsson W950i, Sony Ericsson P1i, Sony Ericsson P910i, HTC TyTN II).
